The POYC scheme (Pharmacy of Your Choice)

POYC — Pharmacy of Your Choice — lets eligible people in Malta collect their free government (formulary) medicines from a community pharmacy they choose, instead of a government health centre. Here's how it works and how to find a participating pharmacy.

What is POYC?

The Pharmacy of Your Choice scheme lets entitled patients pick up government-funded medicines from a participating community pharmacy near them, rather than queuing at a health centre. Most community pharmacies in Malta take part.

How to register

You nominate a pharmacy of your choice through the scheme and collect your entitlement there. Entitlement and registration are handled by the POYC unit and your pharmacy can guide you through it — bring your ID and any relevant documents.

Collecting your medicines

Once registered, you collect your formulary medicines from your chosen pharmacy on the scheme’s cycle. Your pharmacist can tell you what’s in stock and when to come back.

Find a pharmacy

Use the pharmacy finder to find a community pharmacy near you, then ask whether they’re on POYC and how to nominate them.

Find a pharmacy near you

Search by town, see which pharmacies are open now, or who's on duty this Sunday or public holiday.
