Blood-pressure checks at pharmacies in Malta

A blood-pressure check is one of the quickest things a pharmacy can do — often walk-in and sometimes free. It takes a couple of minutes and can be a useful regular check. Here's what to expect and where to go.

What happens

The pharmacist or assistant puts a cuff on your arm and takes a reading in a minute or two. They’ll usually give you the two numbers and explain whether they look within a normal range or whether it’s worth following up with your doctor.

Is it free?

Many pharmacies offer blood-pressure checks free or for a small charge — it varies, so ask. No appointment is usually needed, but it’s worth avoiding right after coffee, exercise or a rush.

Frequently asked

Do I need an appointment for a blood-pressure check?

Usually not — most pharmacies offer it walk-in. Call ahead if you want to be sure, especially at busy times.

What should I do if my reading is high?

A single high reading isn't a diagnosis. Your pharmacist can advise whether to re-check or see your doctor for follow-up.
